Product Overview

This is the Kryptec Camo pattern available in any three colors of your choice. Feel free to call to line out what tends to go together, or include a photo of the colors you'd like in a follow on email if that is easier.

Unlike a standard single-color application, a 3-color Kryptec Camo finish is a multi-stage, labor-intensive technical process. At MTE Machining, we treat every Kryptec project as a custom build, ensuring that the "3D" depth and transitional shadows the pattern is known for are perfectly executed.

Due to the intricate stenciling and multiple curing cycles required for the Kryptec pattern, please allow for a standard lead time of 3 to 5 weeks. We refuse to rush the "flash-and-cure" cycle. Precision in the booth leads to excellence in the field, ensuring your finish won't just look incredible on Day 1, but will withstand the rigors of hard use for years to come.

Cerakote Care & Maintenance Guide

Congratulations on choosing a Custom Kryptec Multicam Cerakote finish. While Cerakote is the industry standard for abrasion, corrosion, and chemical resistance, proper maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and "mission-ready" appearance of your firearm.

Follow these professional guidelines to keep your MTE Machining custom finish in peak condition.

1. Initial "Break-In" Period

Your Cerakote is fully cured before it leaves our shop. However, like any precision-machined component, moving parts (bolt lugs, slide rails, etc.) will experience a natural "wear-in" during the first 50–100 rounds. This is normal and ensures the smoothest possible action.

2. Cleaning Protocols

Cerakote is highly resistant to most industrial solvents, but "gentle and effective" is always the best approach.

  • Recommended Solvents: Use high-quality firearm cleaners (e.g., Hoppe’s No. 9, Breakthrough Clean, or Slip 2000).

  • The "Soft Touch": Always use a nylon brush or a microfiber cloth.

  • What to Avoid: NEVER use steel wool, wire brushes, or aggressive abrasive pads (like Scotch-Brite) on the Cerakoted surface. These will micro-scratch the finish and dull the Blackout Multicam pattern.

3. Lubrication

Cerakote has a low coefficient of friction, meaning it stays "slicker" than traditional bluing or anodizing. However, it is not a replacement for lubrication.

  • Friction Points: Apply a high-quality CLP or synthetic grease to all high-friction areas (bolt carriers, sear surfaces, and hinge pins).

  • The Exterior: A light wipe-down with a silicone cloth or a drop of oil on a microfiber rag will help maintain the depth and "pop" of the Multicam colors while adding an extra layer of moisture protection.

4. Storage Best Practices

  • Climate Control: While Cerakote is salt-spray resistant, long-term storage in high-humidity environments (like a damp basement) can still affect internal, non-coated components. Store in a temperature-controlled safe whenever possible.

  • Avoid "Hard Contact": When transporting your rifle, use a padded case or a "soft-side" drag bag. While Cerakote is tough, "metal-on-metal" contact in a truck bed or a crowded safe can lead to cosmetic chips over time.

MTE Machining Pro-Tip:

"If your Kryptec Multicam finish starts to look 'dull' after a heavy range session, it’s usually just carbon and skin oils. A quick wipe with a clean microfiber cloth and a dash of rubbing alcohol (70% IPA) will safely strip the oils and return the finish to its original 'out-of-the-booth' look."
